AJMAN: To encourage scientific research and development within the emirate and foster a culture of creativity and innovation in government excellence, the Department of Finance in Ajman has honoured the winners of the ‘Best Research Paper in Financial Resources Sustainability’ award.
This initiative, launched in partnership with Ajman University, reflects the department’s commitment to supporting the UAE’s ‘Year of Sustainability’ efforts.
The closing ceremony and awards presentation were held in the presence of His Excellency Marwan Al Ali, Director of the Department of Finance in Ajman, and Dr. Karim Seghir, Chancellor of Ajman University, alongside directors of various departments, faculty members, and a distinguished group of university professors.
His Excellency Marwan Al Ali expressed his pride in the successful conclusion of the competition, which aims to support scientific research and inspire national academic talent to adopt strategic and forward-thinking approaches. The competition seeks to produce rigorous scientific studies and research that assist decision-makers and contribute to innovative solutions for challenges related to financial sustainability. It also plays a key role in supporting sustainable development in the Emirate of Ajman and positively reflects on enhancing the quality of life for its residents.
He remarked: “We, at the department, adopt the principles of proactivity and flexibility, which are the keys to unlocking innovation — an integral part of our work approach. Believing that scientific research is a fundamental pillar in achieving proactivity and flexibility, we have ensured the utilisation of our strategic partnership with Ajman University to launch this competition. Through it, we aim to prepare a generation that is aware of financial sustainability issues and to benefit from the scientific community in enhancing our readiness for the future.”
Dr. Sayed Al Shami, Advisor to the Ajman Department of Finance, commended the efforts of the participating students, describing their research as a valuable contribution to the emirate’s knowledge and development resources.
He stated: “Your exceptional research represents a significant step towards achieving our goals in financial sustainability and sustainable development. It demonstrates the passion of the younger generation for science and exploration, filled with promising ideas and ambitions that inspire optimism for the future.”

Maryam Al Dhuhoori, Director of the Institutional Relations Centre at the department, emphasised that the award reflects the department’s commitment to strengthening its partnerships with the academic sector as part of its efforts to direct academic endeavours toward sustainability issues. It provides young minds with the opportunity to apply their knowledge by preparing research studies that contribute to fostering innovation within the department and enable it to develop policies and frameworks based on the principle of future foresight. This approach aims to transform challenges into opportunities for growth and achieve excellence, leadership, and sustainability in government financial operations.
