IWPG, Jordan’s Equality Organization signs MOU for Peace Promotion

New York: The International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) Global Region 2, led by Global Director SeoYeon Lee, has strengthened its commitment to promoting global peace by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Jordan’s Equality Organization for Training and Human Rights. The signing took place on the 10th at the Wyndham Hotel during the 69th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

The Equality Organization for Training and Human Rights, represented by Hiba Issa Odeh Haddadeen, is a leading organization focused on advancing women’s rights and achieving a just and equal society. By fostering advocacy, awareness, and capacity building, the organization aims to create sustainable positive change, particularly in the fields of women’s rights and peace.

The MOU formalizes the collaboration between IWPG and the Equality Organization, with a focus on peace-building initiatives. Both organizations agreed to cooperate on several key initiatives, including the organization of peace events, supporting the advocacy and enactment of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) into law, promoting women’s peace education, and forming networks. Additionally, the agreement includes efforts to encourage Jordanian women to join IWPG as new members.

Representative Hiba Issa Odeh Haddadeen expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “Through our cooperation with IWPG, we will share valuable experiences and knowledge in the fields of women’s rights. This partnership is deeply meaningful, as it brings us closer to our common goal of achieving peace.”

IWPG’s Regional Director SeoYeon Lee also shared her excitement, saying, “This agreement represents a significant step toward building sustainable peace while spreading the value together with the women of Jordan.”

IWPG, a global women’s NGO recognized by the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the UN Department of Global Communications (DGC), operates with 115 branches in 122 countries and 808 partner organizations in 68 countries. With its vision of “realizing sustainable world peace,” IWPG continues to spread solidarity, promote a culture for the enactment of the DPCW, a crucial step toward securing a peaceful future.
