Sharjah: The Emirates Reprographic Rights Management Association (ERRA) has taken a major step toward strengthening global intellectual property protection by signing two bilateral agreements with copyright agencies in Australia and New Zealand during the IFRRO World Congress held recently in Singapore.
The agreements, signed with Copyright Licensing New Zealand (CLNZ) and Copyright Agency (CA) Australia, aim to enhance cooperation, share expertise, and expand the protection of reprographic rights for Emirati and Arab creative works internationally.
This strategic move reinforces the UAE’s leadership in safeguarding authors’ and publishers’ rights and advancing its growing role in the global creative economy. The partnerships will also enable UAE-based authors, publishers, and educational institutions to access global markets while ensuring their moral and material rights are protected in both digital and educational environments.

Majd Al Shehhi, Director of the Emirates Reprographic Rights Management Association, described the agreements as a milestone in the Association’s international outreach.
“The signing of these two agreements reflects ERRA’s commitment to empowering Emirati and Arab creators to access international markets securely while protecting their intellectual rights in evolving digital and educational environments,” she said.
“Building a strong network of international partnerships is key to creating a sustainable and equitable creative ecosystem.”

Al Shehhi added that the agreements align with ERRA’s vision of becoming a regional model for intellectual property rights management, by providing legal licensing frameworks that promote fair and lawful knowledge sharing.
H.E. Dr Mohammed Mahmoud Al Kamali, Member of the Board of Directors of ERRA, emphasized that the new partnerships underscore the UAE’s credibility and leadership in protecting intellectual property.
“International cooperation in reprographic rights management is vital to harmonize legal frameworks and exchange expertise in protecting the rights of authors and publishers,” he stated.
Dr Al Kamali further noted that ERRA continues to expand its international network in support of the UAE’s vision to develop the creative economy and position intellectual property protection as a cornerstone of sustainable cultural growth.
The Association’s participation in the IFRRO World Congress forms part of its broader mission to establish the UAE as a regional and global hub for creativity and copyright protection, through partnerships that promote innovation, transparency, and respect for intellectual work.
