Czechia emerges as cool European summer escape for GCC travellers

Historic cities, spa towns and cultural festivals offer refreshing alternative to Gulf summer heat

ABU DHABI: Czechia is positioning itself as a preferred summer destination for GCC travellers, offering cooler weather, green landscapes and a relaxed European travel experience during the peak summer season.

As temperatures rise across the Gulf region, Czechia is highlighting its mild climate, historic towns and natural scenery as a comfortable alternative for seasonal travel, combining leisure, culture and wellness in one destination.

In the capital, Prague, terraced gardens overlooking the Vltava River provide peaceful retreats amid the city’s historic architecture, while surrounding regions such as South Bohemia and Moravia offer castle parks, chateaux and countryside estates ideal for relaxed exploration.

Summer is also the country’s peak cultural season, featuring internationally recognised events that attract global visitors. Among the highlights is the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, held in the spa town of Karlovy Vary, which brings international cinema and celebrities to Central Europe each year.

Music and arts festivals such as Colours of Ostrava further enrich the summer calendar, alongside open-air concerts, classical performances and cultural programmes hosted in Prague’s historic squares, palace courtyards and heritage venues.

Beyond cities, Czechia’s national parks and protected landscapes offer outdoor activities including hiking, cycling and scenic sightseeing. The country’s compact geography allows travellers to combine urban exploration with nature escapes within short travel distances.

Spa tourism remains one of Czechia’s strongest attractions, with wellness destinations such as Karlovy Vary, Mariánské Lázně and Františkovy Lázně offering traditional treatments, elegant architecture and tranquil surroundings designed for relaxation and rejuvenation.

Culinary experiences also play a key role in the summer travel experience, with outdoor cafés, riverside dining and local markets showcasing seasonal produce and traditional Czech cuisine in historic settings.

Tourism officials say Czechia’s combination of cool summer temperatures, cultural depth, wellness offerings and natural beauty makes it particularly appealing for families, couples and leisure travellers from the Gulf region seeking a break from extreme heat.

With its blend of heritage cities, spa culture and outdoor experiences, Czechia is being promoted as a balanced and refreshing European summer getaway during the peak travel season.
