Karachi: At least 12 people, including 3 children, were killed in a stampede during the distribution of Zakat in a private company near Site Area Noris Chorangi. The Sindh government has announced to give Rs 5 lac to the next of kin and Rs 1 lakh to each injured person.

According to the preliminary details, women also died due to falling into the drain due to stampede, while many people are reported to have been injured. The dead and injured were shifted to Abbasi Hospital.

According to an Edhi Foundation volunteer, a stampede occurred due to a falling power line during the ration distribution, but this claim was later denied. According to the eyewitnesses, many people also fainted due to the stampede.

According to the data released by the police, 12 people died in the accident while five were injured, of which three are in serious condition. The women and children of the dead and injured are also included.

According to SP Baldia Town, the ration distribution was not reported by the company. During the stampede, a water line leaked, causing a power line to fall, which also led to deaths. The police detained 7 people from the company and transferred them to the police station.

SSP Kemari Fida Hussain Januri said that more than four hundred people were present in the factory, during which there was a commotion. The administration also did not find any evidence of death due to electrocution. The death occurred due to suffocation.
