Bilawal vows stronger AJK representation in parliament ahead of polls

PPP chairman says upcoming elections are crucial, pledges to work for Kashmir's progress and prosperity

MIRPUR: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Wednesday pledged to strengthen Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s (AJK) representation in parliament, describing the upcoming legislative elections as the most important polls and urging people to unite for the region’s brighter future.

Addressing a public gathering in Mirpur, Bilawal said returning to the city felt like coming to his second home, adding that the Bhutto family’s relationship with Mirpur spans three generations.

He expressed confidence that the PPP leadership would continue serving the people of Mirpur and remain committed to the region’s development and prosperity.

Highlighting the party’s political legacy, Bilawal said former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto gave the country a unanimous Constitution and laid the foundation of Pakistan’s nuclear programme.

“Today, Pakistan is the only nuclear power in the Islamic world,” he said, adding that President Asif Ali Zardari completed former prime minister Benazir Bhutto’s unfinished mission through the passage of the 18th Constitutional Amendment.

The PPP chairman said the party and its workers would work together to write a new chapter in history and build a better future for the people of Azad Kashmir.

Bilawal also claimed that history would remember the PPP for granting ownership rights to the people of Kashmir.
