ISLAMABAD: Security forces killed 10 militants and arrested two female suicide bombers during intelligence-based operations conducted over the past 48 hours in Balochistan’s Surab and Mastung districts, the military’s media wing said on Wednesday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations targeted militants belonging to Fitna al-Hindustan and Fitna al-Khawarij, alleging that the groups were operating with Indian support.
The ISPR said seven militants were killed during the operation in Surab, while three others were eliminated in Mastung. During the Mastung operation, security forces also arrested two female suicide bombers linked to Fitna al-Hindustan along with a facilitator.
Weapons, ammunition and explosives were recovered from the militants during the operations, the statement added.
Reacting to the operations, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the fight against terrorism would continue until the menace was completely eradicated, describing the militants as enemies of Balochistan’s peace, development and prosperity.
He said the entire nation stood shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces in their unwavering resolve to eliminate terrorism.
President Asif Ali Zardari also praised the security forces and reaffirmed that Pakistan’s campaign against terrorism driven by external interference would continue, stressing the state’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi commended the security forces for the successful operations, praising their professionalism and bravery. He described the officers and personnel of the armed forces as “the nation’s real heroes” and said the country was proud of those combating what he termed Indian-sponsored terrorism.
The ISPR said clearance operations were continuing in the area to eliminate any remaining militants, reiterating that security forces would continue operations until what it described as foreign-sponsored terrorism had been completely eradicated.
