Islamabad: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar assured that the upcoming general elections will not be postponed, emphasizing that the Election Commission of Pakistan has the authority to consider any requests for such changes. In an interview with GNN, the prime minister discouraged politicizing the issue of terrorism in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and stressed the importance of a unified approach.
Given the challenging circumstances in some areas, he acknowledged the difficulty of mobilizing people for election campaigns. However, he reiterated the caretaker government’s commitment to ensuring a fair and successful elections. Responding to questions, he affirmed the right of all political parties, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, to participate in the electoral process, emphasizing the importance of fairness and inclusivity.
Addressing concerns about restrictions on public gatherings, the prime minister clarified that there was no specific targeting of any party. Regarding the concept of “minus one” within political parties, he attributed it to a lack of institutionalization and urged the development of local leadership.
Prime Minister Kakar also commented on the Indian Supreme Court’s decision on Article 370, stating that history would judge the verdict. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to the Kashmir cause and emphasized national unity in supporting Kashmiri brethren.

Responding to questions about the government’s relations with the establishment, he emphasized a neutral role and the absence of hardcore evidence of intervention in politics. He highlighted the importance of a positive working relationship for the benefit of the country.
Regarding pre-poll predictions, he dismissed them, stating that voters would decide the next prime minister. On the repatriation of illegal foreign nationals, he emphasized the need for regulated movement between states and committed to concluding the repatriation process.
Addressing the privatization of PIA, he stated that the process was mature, and the government remained committed to its agenda. He highlighted successful reforms, including the recovery of Rs 60 billion under the anti-power theft drive and improvements in tax receivables and issues related to Afghan Transit Trade. Finally, he expressed confidence in the continuity of the Special Investment Facilitation Council, citing statutory support and productive collaboration with the military in various sectors.
