Crisis Management Unit actives for Pakistanis in Lebanon

In response to the escalating conflict in Lebanon, where fierce Israeli airstrikes have led to widespread devastation, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has activated its Crisis Management Unit (CMU) to assist Pakistani nationals and their families affected by the crisis.

The recent airstrikes have left many Pakistani families stranded in Lebanon due to the suspension of flight operations. Families expressed their distress in interviews with private news channel, highlighting their difficulties in evacuating the country. They reported that land routes are also inaccessible due to safety concerns stemming from the ongoing conflict in Syria.

Intense bombardment has been reported in Beirut’s southern suburbs and across southern and eastern Lebanon, with the country’s health ministry estimating over 700 fatalities and hundreds of thousands displaced since the attacks began on Monday, according to AFP.

Support for Affected Nationals

“The ministry in Islamabad and the Pakistani embassy in Beirut are actively working to assist Pakistani nationals impacted by the situation in Lebanon,” stated Foreign Office spokeswoman Mumtaz Zahra Baloch. She urged affected individuals to reach out to the CMU at Islamabad’s landline number 051-9207887 or via email at [email protected].

The Embassy of Pakistan in Beirut is also available around the clock for assistance, with contact options including Cell/WhatsApp numbers: 00961-81669488 and 00961-81815104, and email: [email protected].

Condemnation of Israeli Actions

In light of the situation, Pakistan has strongly condemned the increasing Israeli military actions in the Middle East. The Foreign Office spokesperson emphasized that these attacks on civilian populations and violations of international law are alarmingly reckless.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims of Israeli aggression and the people of Lebanon,” she stated, referring to the recent escalation, including the targeting of Hezbollah leaders.

Pakistan continues to express solidarity with the Lebanese people and has called on the United Nations Security Council to take action to curb Israel’s military aggressions and restore peace in the region.

As the crisis unfolds, Pakistan remains committed to providing support to its citizens in Lebanon and advocating for stability and peace in the Middle East.
