Karachi: Karachi police on Saturday arrested eight illegal residents of Afghanistan at various locations, including Machar Colony, Al-Asif Square and nearby areas.
According to details, the arrests were carried out in a targeted operation. It included a house search led by Superintendent of Police (SP) Chaudhry Sohail in Sohrab Goth.
“Our main focus was to ensure the safety of the community while upholding the rule of law,” said SP Chaudhry Sohail.
He pointed out that the action was not only to identify illegal residents, but also to combat potential threats that could endanger the welfare of local residents.
The search operation also included a comprehensive review of the data and identities of the suspected individuals. Advanced search applications were used to confirm immigration status.
SP Sohail said women were also used as searchers. This was to ensure that cultural sensitivities were respected and ethical search practices were followed.
After the successful operation, proceedings were initiated against those arrested. This was an important step in ensuring accountability and transparency in the legal process, he said.
SP Sohail said police are committed to thoroughly interrogating those arrested.
