Today marks the commencement of the highly anticipated 2024 general elections across the nation, as millions of citizens gear up to exercise their democratic rights in selecting the next Prime Minister. With an unprecedented number of registered voters totaling 12 crore, 85 lakh, 85 thousand, and 760, the electoral process is set to unfold across 855 constituencies encompassing national and provincial assemblies.
An extensive network of 90 thousand 675 polling stations and 266 thousand 398 polling booths has been established nationwide to facilitate the voting process. Notably, 16 thousand 766 polling stations have been identified as highly sensitive, underscoring the importance of maintaining security and transparency throughout the electoral proceedings.
To ensure a smooth and secure 2024 General Elections, a robust deployment of law enforcement personnel, including police, Civil Armed Forces, and Army personnel, has been orchestrated. High-security measures, such as the installation of CCTV cameras at highly sensitive polling stations and the activation of control rooms for monitoring, have been implemented in adherence to the Election Commission’s code of conduct.

Voting will proceed uninterrupted from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with government hospitals on standby to address any emergent medical needs of voters. In the capital city of Islamabad alone, 1 million, 83 thousand, and 29 voters will cast their ballots to determine representation in 3 National Assembly seats.
The electoral landscape extends to various provinces, with significant participation anticipated in the National Assembly and Provincial Assembly contests. Notably, Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan each play a crucial role in shaping the country’s political landscape.
Stringent security measures are in place, with the Pakistan Army securing the most sensitive polling stations and over 6 lakh security personnel deployed nationwide. The Election Commission remains committed to releasing timely and transparent election results within one hour of the conclusion of polling, ensuring the integrity of the electoral process.
