ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has rejected allegations by Afghan Taliban officials attributing the fighting in Nuristan to Pakistan, describing the claims as attempts to divert attention from Afghanistan’s internal challenges.
In a statement issued under its fact-checking initiative, the ministry said recent allegations by the so-called minister for borders and other representatives of the Taliban regime were intended to deflect attention from what it described as internal oppression, dissent and instability in Afghanistan.
The ministry maintained that the Afghan Taliban regime was non-inclusive and non-representative, alleging that it had imposed its rule on the Afghan people through force and oppression.
It said statements blaming Pakistan for internal developments in Afghanistan reflected frustration over the regime’s handling of its domestic challenges.
The ministry also accused the Afghan Taliban of supporting militant activities and alleged that their actions were contributing to regional instability.
According to the statement, the ministry said the Taliban leadership was pursuing policies that undermined regional peace and stability and urged an end to allegations against Pakistan.
The statement concluded by reiterating the government’s position that the allegations were unfounded, declaring: “Truth Prevails Over Falsehood.”
