Pakistan’s Textile exports decrease by 1.56%

Decline in exports is a concern for the economy and stability of national exports.

Karachi: Pakistan’s value-added textile exports are on the decline due to lack of interest from the federal government.

Compared to October 2021’s $1.60 billion, textile exports decreased by 1.56% to $1.335 billion in October 2022. Decline in exports is a concern for the economy and stability of national exports.

Javed Balwani, head of Pakistan Apparel Forum, said that the government has consistently neglected the sector, which has raised fears that the exports of the value-added textile sector will further decline.

Javed Bilwani said that the value added textile industry was earlier in take-off mode and the export performance was progressing rapidly and as in the past, history repeated itself and due to difficulties in textile exports towards export tannery. The trend has started to change mainly due to change in government focus and priorities.
