A disturbing incident happened in Islamabad on Tuesday as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) spokesperson Raoof Hasan was attacked and injured by a group of around four individuals, seemingly transgender persons, drawing strong condemnation from his party.
In a statement posted on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, PTI expressed profound dismay over the assault, labeling it as “extremely shameful and deplorable.” The statement revealed that Central Information Secretary Raoof Hasan was assaulted by unknown assailants outside the premises of a private channel.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear at this time.
Accompanying the statement was a video showing Hasan, with visible injuries and blood on his face, urging bystanders to call for medical assistance as he entered a nearby building.
In a subsequent statement, PTI raised concerns about the safety of individuals in the federal capital, questioning the security measures in place if a spokesperson of the “largest party” could be targeted in broad daylight.

CCTV footage obtained provides insight into the attack, depicting Hasan being accosted by a group of apparent transgender persons, one of whom brandished a sharp object.
The footage reveals a confrontation initiated by one of the apparent attackers, leading to a brief exchange with Hasan before escalating into violence. Despite attempts by Hasan to retreat, the group continued their assault until intervention by a passerby dispersed the attackers.
Of note, the footage also captures an individual filming the incident, raising questions about the circumstances surrounding the attack and the identity of the perpetrators.
