Islamabad: National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Chairman Tariq Malik has resigned from his position, citing a “politically charged and polarised environment” as a reason for his decision.
According to Leading News, during the meeting with Prime Minister Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif, Nadra Chairman Mohammad Tariq Malik submitted his resignation which was accepted by the Prime Minister.
During the meeting held at the Prime Minister House, Shahbaz Sharif appreciated the services of Tariq Malik as Chairman NADRA and expressed hope that he will continue to play his role in the development and prosperity of the country.
In a statement issued to the media after the meeting, Tariq Malik said that during his two-year tenure, he introduced more than 45 innovative services and facilities aimed at strengthening children, youth and parliament.
On the other hand, the sources say that Tariq Malik is accused of corruption in NADRA, an investigation is ongoing against Tariq Malik in NAB for corruption in the purchase of Iris system, due to which he resigned.
There are reports that FIA has banned Tariq Malik from leaving the country, he will not be allowed to leave the country until he is cleared of the probe.
