Turkiye Earthquake, Pakistani rescue team returns home with great public reception

Istanbul: The team sent by Pakistan to Turkiye for relief and rescue work after the earthquake has left for home with great public acclaim.

The Pakistani search and rescue team completed a 17-day search and rescue operation in the earthquake-affected area of ​​Adiaman in Turkiye. The Pakistani team included a 33-member team of the Army and a 53-member team of Rescue 1122.

The rescue teams performed rescue work at a total of 91 locations, while at 39 locations, they showed the essence of their professional skills in the rescue operation. Day and night efforts have saved 8 people, including small children, in addition to this, 5 other people were identified and rescued with the help of other rescue teams.

The rescue team took out the bodies of 138 people buried under the debris and handed them over to the Turkish administration. The rescue team completely cleared 2 sites for camping. The operation of the rescue team continued for several days, winning the hearts of the people of Turkiye, the aid workers of Pakistan made the name of the beloved country famous all over the world.

There, a farewell ceremony was held in honor of the rescue team, in which Pakistani Ambassador and Deputy Governor of Istanbul Azlim Bozkert Gevrek participated and paid tribute to the Pakistani volunteers in a grand manner.

Pakistani Ambassador Dr. Yusuf Junaid and Turkish officials sent off the Pakistani team with applause and said that Pakistan will continue to play an active role in relief and rehabilitation efforts.

It should be noted that Pakistan’s rescue team was also praised on the international and Turkish media for being the first to reach the earthquake victims in Turkiye and the last to leave there.

On the other hand, upon returning home, the Pakistani rescue team was given a grand farewell at the Turkish airport, where the Turkish officials at the airport encouraged the crew by clapping their hands. On this occasion, the slogans of Pakistan Zindabad and Pak-Turk Friendship Zindabad were also raised in the air.

Sharing the video, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif wrote, “Salute to the brave and dutiful sons of the nation who saved the lives of the sisters, brothers and children of Turkiye during the earthquake disaster.” He wrote that rescue officials worked day and night with the spirit of humanity. A proud and soulful sight of Rescue 1122’s homecoming after completing the rescue operation in Turkiye.
