US-Pakistan Trade Talks: Enhancing Cooperation

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar recently had a phone call, discussed US-Pakistan ties, focusing on boosting mutual trade and investment.

In their first conversation, both leaders discussed strengthening trade and investment ties between US-Pakistan and reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation across various sectors of mutual interest, as stated by Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch.

Their dialogue covered a range of topics including climate change, agriculture, and security, alongside addressing regional issues such as the situation in Gaza and developments in Afghanistan.

This positive momentum follows a letter from US President Joe Biden to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, emphasizing the importance of the partnership between the two nations in global security and development.

President Biden highlighted shared goals in areas like public health, economic development, and education, emphasizing continued support for Pakistan in agriculture, water management, and post-flood recovery efforts.

The letter underscores the commitment to strengthening the robust partnership between the US and Pakistan, aiming to promote human rights, development, and close ties between the two nations.

In response, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed Pakistan’s eagerness to collaborate with the US for global peace and regional prosperity, highlighting the importance of their alliance and ongoing cooperation in various sectors, including energy and environmental initiatives.
