72 new coronavirus cases surface in Pakistan

Islamabad: Health authorities have reported 72 new coronavirus cases in the past week across Pakistan.

According to data released by the National Institute of Health (NIH), the case positivity rate stood at 0.85 percent, with two patients listed in critical condition. Thankfully, there were no new COVID-19-related fatalities, and a total of 8,458 Covid-19 tests were conducted during this period.

Meanwhile, officials from the Ministry for National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination have emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening the Border and Health Services to effectively address any potential sub-variants of COVID-19.

They highlighted the presence of a comprehensive surveillance system at all entry points into the country, including airports, which includes rapid testing and passenger screening protocols. It was also noted that an impressive 90 percent of the country’s population has already received the Covid-19 vaccine.
