GUANGZHOU: A high-level delegation from the United Arab Emirates concluded a series of strategic meetings in Guangzhou under the framework of the AIM Talks China 2026 initiative, reinforcing the growing momentum of UAE-China cooperation across technology, industry, trade, and investment sectors.
Led by Fahad Al Gergawi, the delegation engaged with senior Chinese officials and business leaders to advance practical collaboration in emerging sectors including artificial intelligence, smart infrastructure, advanced mobility, energy, and innovation-driven industries.
The engagements underscored AIM Talks China’s role as a platform that translates high-level dialogue into actionable partnerships between governments, businesses, and technology stakeholders. Officials said the discussions reflected a shared commitment to building sustainable, long-term economic cooperation and expanding bilateral opportunities in rapidly evolving sectors.
The UAE delegation included Mariam Al Shamsi, Dawood Al Shezawi, and Raja Al Mazrouei, along with representatives from the Tianhe District Government.
One of the delegation’s key engagements was a bilateral meeting with Sun Zhiyang and senior Guangzhou officials. Discussions focused on aligning Guangzhou’s urban development strategy with trade and investment opportunities involving the UAE.
Chinese officials highlighted Guangzhou’s development priorities in artificial intelligence, new energy technologies, and the low-altitude economy, while expressing interest in expanding cooperation with the UAE in transport, finance, tourism, smart mobility, and sustainable energy projects.
Speaking during the meeting, Fahad Al Gergawi emphasized the UAE’s position as a strategic gateway connecting global markets and providing an advanced business environment for regional expansion. He identified artificial intelligence, finance, energy, construction, tourism, and food security as key sectors with significant potential for enhanced bilateral collaboration.
The delegation also visited PCI Technology, one of China’s leading firms specializing in artificial intelligence, smart city solutions, intelligent rail transit, and integrated urban mobility systems.
The visit offered UAE officials an opportunity to examine advanced Chinese technologies that integrate transportation infrastructure, urban planning, and digital innovation. Discussions focused on adapting smart mobility and infrastructure solutions to meet growing demand in the UAE and broader Middle East region.
Al Gergawi highlighted the UAE’s role as a gateway for Chinese businesses seeking access to Middle Eastern and North African markets, citing the country’s advanced logistics infrastructure, investment-friendly policies, and strategic geographic location. He encouraged Chinese companies to explore opportunities within the UAE’s rapidly expanding smart city and intelligent transport sectors.
Raja Al Mazrouei noted that the UAE is increasingly integrating next-generation technologies such as artificial intelligence, automation, and advanced rail monitoring systems into its transportation network to improve efficiency, safety, and sustainability. She emphasized the value of partnerships with innovative Chinese firms in supporting the future development of regional transport and logistics infrastructure.
On behalf of PCI Technology, Vice President and General Manager of Public Affairs Huang Yigeng expressed strong interest in the UAE market and signaled the company’s willingness to pursue cooperation in intelligent rail transit and smart urban mobility. Potential areas of collaboration include technology transfer, project development, and joint industrial initiatives.
Officials from both sides described the Guangzhou engagements as a reflection of the evolving nature of UAE-China relations, which are increasingly focused on innovation, infrastructure development, institutional cooperation, and future-oriented industries.
The meetings also reinforced AIM Talks China’s growing role as a strategic platform for connecting policymakers, investors, technology leaders, and commercial stakeholders. Participants noted that the next phase of UAE-China cooperation is expected to move beyond traditional trade ties toward a more integrated partnership centered on innovation, investment, smart infrastructure, and sustainable economic development.
