Bilawal Emphasizes Political Competition and Fair Elections

PPP Chairman Inaugurates Water Project and Stresses Commitment to Democratic Principles

Hyderabad: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, during a public rally in Hyderabad after inaugurating a significant water project, underscored the importance of political competition, fair elections, and the continuous democratic process.

Addressing the gathering, Bhutto expressed the PPP’s readiness to participate in elections and encouraged other political parties to do the same. He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to contesting elections based on its manifesto and principles.

Highlighting the vital role of the media in spotlighting the party’s political endeavors and responsibilities, Bhutto stressed the significance of an informed and transparent political landscape.

The PPP chairman also emphasized the need for unity among opposition parties, urging them not to shy away from elections. He criticized those who opted to evade electoral contests, stating that such reluctance stemmed from fear of facing the electorate.

“In politics, it’s said that if you’re afraid, you die,” Bhutto asserted, underlining the party’s resilience and determination in the face of challenges.

Addressing ongoing character assassination and propaganda campaigns against the PPP, Bhutto emphasized the importance of countering false narratives and propaganda with facts and evidence.

Acknowledging the enduring support of Hyderabad’s residents, Bhutto praised the unwavering backing of the people for his party. He recalled the historical significance of Hyderabad in the political journey of his family, noting how the city had played a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s destiny.

Bhutto recounted instances where the people of Hyderabad had stood firmly behind his grandfather, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, during challenging times, ultimately altering the course of the nation’s history. He also highlighted the city’s support for the late Benazir Bhutto during pivotal moments in the party’s history.

Furthermore, Bhutto challenged prevailing stereotypes about women in politics, noting that many believed a woman could not become a prime minister in Pakistan. He emphasized that the people of Hyderabad had defied such notions, leading to the historic election of Benazir Bhutto as prime minister not once but twice.

Inaugurating a significant water supply project for Hyderabad, Bhutto addressed a pressing issue faced by the city’s residents. He stressed that access to clean water is a fundamental right for all citizens and expressed concern about water scarcity despite abundant water resources in the region.

Bhutto proudly declared that his party had successfully delivered clean water to every village and home in the region, setting them apart through their demonstrated performance.

Looking ahead, Bhutto expressed his vision to extend these initiatives to other cities such as Multan and Faisalabad and to address water scarcity issues in areas like FATA and Peshawar. He underlined that, by joining hands with the PPP, they would collectively work towards resolving pressing issues in the country.
