Dubai has unveiled a major new metro project, with authorities announcing that the “Golden Line” will cost 34 billion dirhams ($9.25 billion) and is expected to be completed by September 9, 2032.
The announcement was shared by the emirate’s ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who said the new line will run approximately 40 metres underground and connect 15 key areas across the city.
Officials said the project is designed to serve around 1.5 million people and support 55 major real estate developments currently under construction.
The Golden Line will expand the overall length of Dubai’s metro network by 35%, forming part of wider efforts to enhance transport infrastructure and accommodate rapid population growth and urban development.
Authorities said the initiative reflects Dubai’s long-term vision of building a modern, efficient, and sustainable urban transport system to meet future demands.
