NBF showcases Pakistani literature at Abu Dhabi Int’l Book Fair 2025

Abu Dhabi: The National Book Foundation (NBF) of Pakistan proudly represented the country at the prestigious Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2025 with the setup of the “Pakistan NBF Book Stall,” drawing significant attention and appreciation from global literary circles.

Held from April 26 to May 5, the book fair attracted millions of literature enthusiasts, writers, intellectuals, poets, journalists, and cultural aficionados from around the world. Featuring over 1,400 book stalls representing diverse nations, the event stood as a testament to the universal power of books and knowledge.

Pakistan’s presence was marked by the official inauguration of the NBF stall by Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi. Acting on his directives, a large number of students and teachers from Pakistani schools across the UAE participated in the event, reflecting their deep-rooted interest in reading and literature.

Ambassador Tirmizi also visited the Pakistan stall and attended the launch ceremony of a special NBF publication spotlighting essays on prominent Pakistani figures from a range of disciplines. In his keynote address, he lauded the dedication of Pakistani authors and highlighted the critical role literature and the arts play in promoting Pakistan’s moderate and culturally rich identity on the global stage.

He extended special praise to Sarmad Khan, the visionary behind World Books, for his administrative leadership in organizing Pakistan’s participation. A UK-qualified Chartered Accountant, Khan has previously led numerous successful literary initiatives across the UK, Pakistan, and the UAE. Ambassador Tirmizi further encouraged Pakistani educational institutions in the UAE to continue engaging with such cultural events and underscored the need to strengthen ties between Pakistan’s NBF and Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism—particularly in promoting the translation of literary works between Urdu and Arabic.
