Schools, colleges to remain shut in Islamabad, Punjab today

In response to rising security concerns following a series of missile attacks by India, the Islamabad district administration and the Punjab government have announced the immediate closure of all school and colleges.

According to a notification issued early Wednesday morning, all public and private schools in the federal capital will remain closed until further notice. The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students and staff.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also announced the closure of all schools and colleges across the province. “In light of public safety, we are suspending academic activities until the situation stabilizes,” the Chief Minister said in a statement.

Additionally, hospitals and medical units across Punjab have been placed on high alert, with emergency protocols activated to deal with any potential crisis.

The precautionary measures come in the wake of heightened tensions between Pakistan and India, after the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) confirmed that India carried out 24 unprovoked missile attacks at six different locations within Pakistan.

Addressing the media on Tuesday, the DG ISPR revealed that the attacks led to the martyrdom of eight civilians and left 35 others injured. Among the targeted sites were mosques and residential areas, including Ahmedpur East, Muzaffarabad, Kotli, Muridke, Shakargarh, and regions north of Sialkot.

“The situation is extremely serious. Two nuclear powers now stand face to face,” the DG ISPR warned, adding that international journalists have been taken to the Line of Control to witness the destruction firsthand and verify the ground realities.
